Teen arrested after stolen vehicles located at Northfield

At about 5.20pm on Saturday 5 September, Eastern District police were on patrol on Hampstead Road, Northfield, when they spotted a stolen Toyota HiAce van parked in the driveway of a home. As officers approached the property, two people in the front yard fled. Police also observed a stolen Toyota SUV parked at the premises.

Checks revealed the Toyota HiAce had been stolen from a Clearview home on Monday 31 August. Credit cards that were inside the van at the time of the theft were allegedly later used to make purchases at a number of stores across metropolitan Adelaide.

Officers searched the area and located a teenage boy nearby. The 16-year-old Para Vista boy was arrested and charged with two counts of theft relating to the alleged use of the stolen credit cards, illegal use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on Monday 7 September.

A woman at the address was also reported in relation to the stolen van after police allegedly located its keys in her possession. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Both stolen vehicles were seized and towed from the scene for forensic examination.
