The driver of the Nissan, a 35-year-old Christie Downs woman, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Sadly, her passenger, an 11-year-old Christie Downs girl, died at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru, a 37-year-old Seaford Meadows man, was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has since been discharged.

Major Crash officers attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Today (Wednesday 14 October), the driver of the nissan was arrested. She was charged with aggravated cause death by dangerous driving and aggravated cause harm by dangerous driving and issued with an immediate loss of licence notice until further order.  She was bailed to appear in Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Thursday 12 November.

The girl's death is the 81st life lost on South Australian roads this year.
