07 Jul 2026 1:26pm

Youth and Street Gangs Task Force officers and Northern District Detectives have arrested two men following an aggravated serious criminal trespass at Salisbury Heights overnight.

It will be alleged that just after 10.30pm on Monday 6 July, that a couple returned to their Target Hill Road home after arriving back from an overseas holiday and discovered two intruders inside the property, along with an alleged stolen Holden SUV parked in the driveway. The vehicle had already been loaded with the victims’ belongings.

When confronted, the suspects fled through a reserve behind the property. Fortunately, the homeowners were not physically injured.

Police responded immediately and quickly arrested one suspect nearby. A 43-year-old Smithfield Plains man was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 17 August.

Despite an extensive search involving Police Dog Duke, the second suspect was not located at the time. During the search, police recovered a discarded backpack containing stolen property.

Further investigations led detectives to an Elizabeth Park address on Tuesday 7 July, where a search warrant was executed. Detectives allegedly located and recovered additional property belonging to the victims and arrested a 24-year-old Elizabeth Park man.

He was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and unlawful possession. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations remain ongoing as detectives work to identify and recover any outstanding stolen property.
