Under the influence, unlicensed and unregistered at Whyalla Stuart

About 3.30pm on Friday 31 October, an Eyre Western highway patrol stopped a BMW sedan in Wainwright Street, Whyalla Stuart after police checks revealed the registration was expired.

The driver, a 22-year-old Whyalla Norrie man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.096.  He also tested positive to cannabis.  The sample was sent for forensic testing.

Further checks revealed that he had an expired learner's permit.

The driver was reported for driving unlicensed, unregistered, uninsured and drink driving.

His BMW was defected for major safety breaches including damaged seatbelts and non-compliant suspension and was impounded for 28 days and towed from the scene.
