A man has died following a crash on the Lincoln Highway at Midgee yesterday morning.
About 10.30am on Tuesday 16 June, police and emergency services were called to the Lincoln Highway, about 30 km north of Cowell, after reports of a crash involving a Great Wall utility and a Holden station wagon.
The driver of the Holden, a 66-year-old Cowell man, sadly died at the scene.
The passenger of the Holden, a 65-year-old Cowell woman, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the Great Wall, a 29-year-old Port Augusta man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested by Major Crash officers and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing harm by dangerous driving. He was issued an instant loss of licence until further order and bailed to appear in the Whyalla Magistrates Court on 31 August.
The Lincoln Highway between Whyalla and Cowell was closed for several hours before reopening around 8.40pm on Wednesday night.
