Driver reported after weapons found at Thevenard

About 7.44pm on Sunday 9 August, police stopped a Toyota Hilux on Seaview Terrace and spoke to the driver, a 42-year-old man from Yalata.

When police directed him to undergo a breath test, he refused to comply.

Further checks revealed that the driver’s licence was disqualified.

While speaking with the driver, police saw a used .22 rifle cartridge casing inside his vehicle. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located a carved wooden club and a knife with a 20cm blade underneath the driver's seat of the vehicle, as well as a large wooden stick on the floor of the vehicle by the driver's side door.

The man was reported for carrying an offensive weapon, possessing a knife in public, refusing to comply with an alcotest and driving while disqualified.

He was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice, his car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
