Drink drivers caught at Whyalla Stuart

About 8.20pm on Tuesday 15 September, police were in Knight Street when they heard the sound of tyres screeching and a vehicle revving nearby.

A short time later, officers observed smoke and vehicle headlights in Tully Street and subsequently stopped a black Holden utility.

The driver, a 34-year-old Whyalla Stuart man, was spoken to by police and was allegedly observed to be affected by alcohol. He underwent a breath analysis and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.128.

He was reported for drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and misuse of a motor vehicle.

The driver was issued with an immediate loss of licence for six months and his ute was impounded for 28 days.

In an earlier separate incident, about 6.40pm last night, police were conducting patrols in the Whyalla area when they stopped a Holden Calais on Nicolson Avenue for driver testing.

The driver allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.094.

A 48-year-old man from Whyalla Stuart was reported for drink driving and issued with an immediate loss of licence for six months. His vehicle was defected and impounded.

Both drivers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
