A teenage e‑bike rider was arrested at Norwood this morning.
At about 10.50am on Friday 29 May, police observed an e‑bike rider wearing a balaclava performing a wheelie while travelling along Magill Road, Norwood.
When patrols attempted to stop the rider, he failed to comply and was not pursued.
A short time later, police located the rider stopped at a red traffic light, where officers moved in and arrested him.
An examination of the e‑bike revealed it had been modified and therefore met the classification of being a motorcycle.
The 16‑year‑old boy from Heathpool was charged with a number of traffic offences, including driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, failing to stop, and carrying an article of disguise. He was granted bail to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 15 June.
The e‑bike was impounded for 28 days.
Police warn that riders who fail to comply with road rules or engage in dangerous behaviour can expect enforcement action.
