Barossa detectives are urging witnesses to come forward as they continue to investigate a serious crash at Gawler last week.
Police and paramedics were called to Commercial Lane, Gawler, about 5.40pm on Thursday, 7 May, following reports a car had been involved in multiple collisions in a car park.
It was reported that three vehicles were struck in the car park by a Volkswagen sedan, which then collided with two pedestrians in Centenary Lane. It will be alleged the Volkswagen did not stop and left the scene.
A 14-year-old boy sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains. A 43-year-old woman was also taken to hospital.
Following investigations, police attended a Lewiston address where they located the vehicle and arrested the alleged driver about 6.30pm the same day.
The 41-year-old Lewiston man was charged with several offences, including causing harm by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a crash. He was refused police bail and appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday, 8 May, where he was remanded in custody.
The Volkswagen sedan was seized and towed for forensic examination.
Investigations are ongoing and police are seeking to speak with witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or call 1800 333 000 and quote reference number 121485.
