Speeding driver nabbed at Penong

Police have caught up with a driver who was allegedly speeding near Penong on Saturday.

Police received reports from concerned motorists about a vehicle overtaking at high speed on the Eyre Highway from Ceduna to Penong between 10am and 10.45am on Saturday 29 August.  The car was reportedly overtaking on double white lines, overtaking without indicating and travelling at speeds in excess of 160 km/h in the 110 km/h zone.

Following investigations, on Monday 31 August, police interviewed the alleged driver, a 55-year-old Penong man, and reported him for speeding, driving at excessive speed and driving in a manner dangerous to the public.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
