A man has been arrested after he was seen in possession of two knives at Melrose Park.

It will be alleged that just before 5.30am today (Thursday 17 September), police were called to a fast-food restaurant on South Road after reports that a man was using a large knife to cut branches off a tree in the car park.

When police searched the man, they found the knife and a machete both in sheaths.

He was also in possession of a balaclava.

The 38-year-old Pasadena man was arrested and will face numerous charges including carry offensive weapon and possess an article of disguise.

He was refused bail and will appear in court later today.
