Car set alight in southern suburbs

About 11.20pm on Sunday 30 August, police and MFS crews were called to Alderman Avenue after reports that a Volkswagen Polo was on fire.

MFS officers extinguished the blaze which caused extensive damage to the vehicle.

CCTV footage examined by police showed a person riding an electric foldable bicycle and stopping next to the car, before they put accelerant on the car and set it alight.

The person then rode off in an easterly direction towards Diagonal Road.
