Police have arrested a man following a pursuit last night.

About 8:45pm on Monday 8 June, patrols on Shepley Crescent, Burton saw Hyundai sedan with stolen number plates. The driver took off at speed and failed to stop, engaging in a police pursuit.

PolAir monitored the car until it was seen entering an underground car park at a shopping centre on University Parade, Mawson Lakes. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Parafield Gardens, attempted to flee on foot but was arrested shortly after.

During a search of the area, police allegedly located a rifle-style gel blaster. A further search of the man and car located a flick knife, a machete, and several suspected stolen registration plates.

Police checks revealed the car was unregistered and uninsured and the man was disqualified from driving.

He was charged with multiple offences including, dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, driving offences, firearms offences, breach of an intervention order and unlawful possession.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
