Murray Mallee traffic offences

On Friday 4 September, Murray Mallee Police detected a vehicle travelling at 122 km/h on the Karoonda Highway, Alawoona.  The driver, a 61-year-old Barmera man, tested positive for methamphetamine.  He was issued with an expiation notice of $592 and three demerits for speeding and a three-month loss of licence for drug driving. He may be summonsed to appear in court pending forensic analysis.

On Friday, police stopped an unroadworthy vehicle on Montgomery Avenue, Murray Bridge.  Checks revealed the driver, a 28-year-old Murray Bridge man, has never held a licence.  He was reported for driving unlicensed and his vehicle was defected. He will be summonsed to appear in court.

On Saturday 5 September, police stopped a vehicle on the Dukes Highway, Tintinara for a mobile driver test. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Keith, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.081.  He was reported for drink driving, issued with a six-month instant loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

On Sunday 6 September, Berri Police stopped a vehicle on the Sturt Highway, Berri for a mobile driver test. The driver, a 34-year-old Waikerie man, tested positive for methamphetamine.  A search of his vehicle allegedly revealed an amount of illicit and prescription drugs.  He was reported for possess illicit substances and drive without due care.  He was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.  He will be summonsed to appear in court.
