Murray Mallee Region Weekend Traffic Round Up

Several drivers have had action taken on their driving behaviours by Murray Mallee police.

About 11.30pm Friday 21 November, police stopped a white Toyota sedan on Princes Highway, Poltalloch for driver testing. Checks on the driver revealed he was driving disqualified.

The 45-year-old Narrung man was reported for disqualified driving and will be summoned to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 3pm Saturday 22 November, police responded to reports of a disturbance at a Barmera address.

As a result police reported a 59-year-old Barmera woman for drink driving. She will be summoned to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

Her vehicle, a Toyota sedan, was impounded for 28 days and she was issued with a six-month loss of licence.

About 7.15pm Saturday 22 November, police carried out a drug test on the driver of a Holden sedan on the Sturt Highway, Waikerie.

The driver, a 24-year-old Craigmore woman tested positive to methamphetamine. She received a three-month loss of licence.

About 9.40pm Saturday 22 November, police spotted a Mitsubishi van driving dangerously by tailgating and overtaking over solid white lines on Mannum Road, Caloote.

Police activated emergency lights but the driver continued driving for a short time. The driver then stopped and recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.135, more than twice the legal limit.

He received a six-month loss of licence, and the van was impounded for 28 days.

The 51-year-old Brompton man was reported for traffic offences including failing to stop for police and drink driving.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 8.50pm Saturday 22 November, police stopped a Chery station wagon after it was detected speeding on the Sturt Highway, Barmera. The driver, a 23-year-old Barmera man, returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.162, over three times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving with a child in the car and was issued with a 12-month loss of licence.

He will be summoned to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 1.45am Monday 24 November, police stopped a Toyota sedan on Renmark Avenue, Renmark. Police checks revealed the driver, a 34-year-old Kilburn woman, was driving disqualified.

She was arrested; bail was refused and will attend the Berri Magistrates Court today.
