Car break-ins at Coober Pedy

Between 3am and 3.15am on Friday 25 September, several vehicles parked at a motel on Crowders Gully Road were broken into. Windows were smashed to gain entry to the vehicles where a number of personal items and cash were stolen.

A KTM motorbike was also stolen from the rear of a 4wd, but was recovered later this morning on Italian Club Road.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the stolen motorbike (pictured below) being ridden in the township or has any CCTV or dashcam footage.

While conducting enquiries into these offences, Coober Pedy police arrested a 37-year-old local man after he was found in possession of a number of rings and other property believed to be stolen. The man was charged with unlawful possession and bailed to appear in the Coober Pedy Magistrates Court on 30 November.

Police are seeking to identify the owners of the jewellery items depicted and ask anyone who recognises the pieces to contact Coober Pedy Police Station.
