20 Apr 2026 4:46pm

Police were called to a reported break-in at a Benier Street, Whyalla Norrie home just after 9am on Sunday 19 April.  An intruder had broken in through a window but left without stealing any items.

A short time later, just after 10am, police were called to McDouall Stuart Avenue, Whyalla Stuart by reports a person was rummaging through a parked car.  A purse was stolen from the car.

It will be alleged CCTV footage from both crime scenes showed the same suspect.

Following investigations, Whyalla Police located and arrested a suspect.

The 18-year-old Whyalla Stuart man was charged with serious criminal trespass and illegal interference and theft.  He was refused police bail and appeared in the Whyalla Magistrates Court this afternoon, Monday 20 April.
