Man arrested in the CBD for assaulting a police officer

Police have arrested a man in the CBD this afternoon for property damage and assaulting a police officer.

About 6.20pm on Thursday 11 June, police were called to a business on Hindley Street to reports of a suspect attempting to steal items from the store.

Police searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

A short time later police received further reports that the suspect had returned to the business causing a disturbance and was reported to have been causing damage to a police car.

Police located and arrested the suspect where he assaulted one of the officers.

The police officer received minor injuries and received medical attention.

The 22-year-old-man from Adelaide was charged with property damage, assault police and illegal interference.

His bail has been refused, and it is expected he will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
