Teen arrested after house fire at Hewett

Police and Metropolitan Fire Service crews were called to Murray Road about 1.45pm on Thursday 9 July after reports of a house fire.

Firefighters worked quickly to bring the blaze under control, however, the rear of the property sustained extensive damage.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Following investigations, a 13-year-old Hewett girl was arrested in Gawler shortly after 3pm.

She is expected to be charged with arson once medically fit.

Murray Road was closed while Fire Cause Investigators and Barossa detectives examined the scene, however, has now re-opened.

Investigations are continuing.
