A man has been arrested at Mawson Lakes after failing to stop overnight.

Just after 2am Tuesday 9 September, Western District patrols spotted a Holden sedan on Hanson Road at Mansfield Park and when they tried to pull it over, it failed to stop.

Patrols searched the area and spotted the Holden on Grand Junction Road where they followed from a safe distance as further resources responded to assist.

Road spikes were successfully deployed on Hanson Road, Woodville North as the car continued north towards the Port River Expressway.

The driver travelled towards Mawson Lakes, however, with his tyres shredded, came to a stop at the intersection of Salisbury Highway and Elder Smith Road, just after 3am.

Patrols moved in and arrested the 35-year-old man from Waterloo Corner who was charged with driving dangerously to escape police pursuit, driving unlicensed and possessing a prohibited weapon after a flick knife was found in his pocket. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates court later today (Tuesday 9 September).

The man’s car was impounded for 28 days.
