Driver refuses drug test and loses licence at Murray Bridge

4 Nov 2026 12:15pm

A driver lost his licence after allegedly refusing to comply with a drug test at Murray Bridge last night.

Police pulled over a vehicle for a mobile driver test about 11.30pm on Tuesday 3 November on Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge.

The driver, a 30-year-old Murray Bridge East man, complied with a breath test, which produced a negative result.  However, when directed to submit to a roadside drug test, he allegedly refused to comply.

He was reported for refusing to submit to a drug test and was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence.  He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Motorists are reminded that roadside drug testing plays a critical role in detecting drug-impaired drivers and improving road safety.

Refusing to submit to a drug test carries serious penalties and is treated as a significant traffic offence.

Police will continue conducting random drug and alcohol testing across the Murray Mallee region to help keep South Australian roads safe.
