P-plater loses licence for excessive speed at Aldinga

23 Oct 2026 7:34pm

A provisional driver has been reported for excessive speed after being detected travelling 49km/h over the speed limit at Aldinga.

About 2.45pm on Friday 23 October, police were conducting speed detection duties on Main South Road, Aldinga, when they detected a black BYD SUV travelling at 149km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 21-year-old Kurralta Park man. Checks revealed he was the holder of a provisional licence.

He was reported for excessive speed, breaching his provisional licence conditions and issued with an instant loss of licence for six months.

His BYD SUV was impounded for 28 days.

SAPOL reminds motorists that there is no excuse for excessive speeding. Speed remains a major contributing factor in fatal and serious injury crashes on South Australian roads, and police will continue to target dangerous driving behaviour wherever it occurs.
