Pair arrested in stolen Hyundai at Tailem Bend

About 10.10am on Sunday 1 November, police were called to the Dukes Highway near Keith following reports of a Hyundai hatchback being driven erratically.

Checks on the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen from Victoria.

Police remained in contact with the witness, who provided updates on the vehicle's location as local patrols and POLAIR made their way to the area.

The Hyundai entered a service station on the outskirts of Tailem Bend about 10.30am, where the driver and passenger got out of the vehicle. POLAIR maintained observations of the pair until local patrols arrived and arrested them.

The 21-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, both from Victoria, were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle. The man was further charged with carrying an offensive weapon after he was allegedly found in possession of a box cutter.

They were refused police bail and are due to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday 2 November.

The stolen Hyundai was seized and towed from the scene.
