Drivers caught under the influence in Murraylands

Murray Mallee Police have been busy on the roads during the weekend with multiple drivers caught under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

About 11.10am on Friday 7 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Suzuki sedan on Old Sturt Highway, Berri for the purpose of a driver test. The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man from Barmera returned a positive sample for cannabis and cocaine. He was issued an expiation notice and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 9.35pm on Friday 7 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Mitsubishi ute on McMillan Street, Loxton. The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man from Loxton underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.088. He was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and was reported for drink-driving. He will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 12.05am on Saturday 8 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Mitsubishi station wagon on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge. Checks showed that the driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man from Murray Bridge was unlicenced. He also returned a breath test reading of 0.031. He was reported for the above offences and will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 10.40pm on Saturday 8 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Mitsubishi station wagon on North Terrace, Port Mannum. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old woman from Mannum, returned a positive reading of 0.082. She was reported for drink-driving, issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice, her vehicle was impounded and she will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 10.47am on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota sedan on Bridge Street, Callington. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Callington returned a positive drug test for cannabis. He was issued with an expiation notice.

About 2.15pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Great Wall ute on Bridge Street, Murray Bridge. The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old man from Murray Bridge East returned a positive breath test reading of 0.146. He was reported for drink-driving, he was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice, the vehicle was impounded and he will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 1.40pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Holden station wagon on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge. The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old man from Murray Bridge returned a positive test for methamphetamine. He was issued with a driver direction notice and three-month immediate loss of licence notice. He was reported for driving under the influence and will be summonsed to attend Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 2.12pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Mitsubishi station wagon on Railway Terrace, Murray Bridge. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old woman from Murray Bridge, returned a positive sample for cannabis and methamphetamine. Checks also revealed that the driver was unlicenced. Officers were also concerned that there was a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle at the time. The driver was issued with an expiation notice and a driver direction notice.

About 2.40 pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Holden ute on Railway Terrace, Murray Bridge. The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old man from Mount Gambier returned a positive sample for driving under the influence of drugs. He was issued with an expiation notice and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 3.20pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Holden sedan on Railway Terrace, Murray Bridge. The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old woman from Monarto returned a positive sample for methamphetamine in her system. She was issued with a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

About 5.50pm on Sunday 9 August, police conducted a traffic stop on a Holden sedan on Randell Street, Mannum. The driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old man from Mannum returned a positive breath test reading of 0.089. He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice, her vehicle was impounded and she will be summonsed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.
