Limestone Coast Police have been busy on the roads over the weekend with numerous drivers due to face court over various traffic offences.
About 1.05pm on Friday 31 July, a 42-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Kennedy Avenue, Mount Gambier. She underwent a driver screening test and returned a positive result to methamphetamine. She was issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and she may face further penalties once her drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 9.15am on Saturday 1 August, a 19-year-old Millicent man was stopped by police while driving on Davenport Street in Millicent. Checks revealed the driver had a disqualified licence. He was reported for this offence and his car was impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
About 2pm on Saturday 1 August, a 33-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Davison Street in Mount Gambier. She underwent a driver screening test and returned a positive result to methamphetamine. She was issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and she may face further penalties once her drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 4.05pm on Saturday 1 August, a 62-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on James Street in Mount Gambier. He underwent a driver screening test and returned a positive result to methamphetamine. Further checks revealed his licence had been cancelled. He was reported for driving unlicenced, issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and may face further penalties once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 4.15pm on Saturday 1 August, a 21-year-old Naracoorte man was stopped by police while driving on the Riddoch Highway at Naracoorte. Checks revealed the driver had a disqualified licence and his car was impounded for 28 days. He was reported for drive disqualified and will appear in court at a later date.
About 7.40pm on Saturday 1 August, a 25-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on Boandik Terrace in Mount Gambier. He underwent a driver screening test and returned a positive result to methamphetamine. He was issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and may face further penalties once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 8.45pm on Saturday 1 August, a 26-year-old Millicent man was stopped by police while driving on Badenoch Street in Mount Gambier. The probationary driver provided a positive drug test to MDMA and methamphetamine. He will be issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice and may face further penalties once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.
About 10.10pm on Saturday 1 August, a 42-year-old local man was stopped by police while driving on Butler Terrace in Naracoorte. The driver provided a positive drug wipe to methamphetamine. About 11.30pm on Saturday 1 August, a 39-year-old Naracoorte man was stopped by police while driving on Gore Street in Naracoorte. The driver underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.073. He was issued an on-the-spot fine for drink driving.
About 2.50pm on Sunday 2 August, a 20-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on James Street in Mount Gambier. The driver underwent a breath test and returned a positive reading of 0.136 and was reported for drink-driving and breach of provisional licence conditions. He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
