Two teens have been arrested in connection with a series of break ins, vehicle thefts and property damage that occurred across Whyalla last weekend.
It will be alleged that overnight on Sunday 19 October into Monday 20 October, several properties were broken into, two vehicles stolen, and a local business damaged during a series of linked incidents.
Following a swift response and investigation by Whyalla police, the stolen Toyota sedan and Volkswagen hatch were located. Both cars were examined by local crime scene investigators and have since been returned to their rightful owners.
On Tuesday 21 October, patrols attended a Whyalla Stuart home and arrested a 14-year-old local boy in connection with the incidents. The teen was charged with serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, property damage, breach of bail, and possessing a prohibited weapon after officers allegedly discovered a machete hidden down his pants. He was refused police bail and remanded by the Youth Court until 27 October.
Two days later, on Thursday 23 October, patrols spotted an additional suspect walking through a car park in Whyalla Norrie. The teen fled on foot but was arrested shortly after, hiding in the front yard of a home. The 13-year-old local boy was charged with serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, property damage, theft and breach of bail. He will face the Whyalla Youth Court on 12 November.
