Speeding driver caught at Gillman

A man has lost his licence after he was caught speeding in the western suburbs.

About 8.39pm on Wednesday 20 May, a police traffic camera operator recorded a black Holden Calais sedan travelling at 154 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on the Port River Expressway at Gillman.

A traffic patrol went to the owner’s address at Royal Park, locating the driver and his car when he returned home.

The driver, a 52-year-old man underwent a driver test, returning a positive result for methamphetamine.

While examining the vehicle for defects, drugs and drug paraphernalia were located, including cannabis, methamphetamine and GHB.

The man was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence notice, a fine for excessive speed and his car was defected. He may also face further penalties once his drug sample has been forensically analysed.

His passenger. a 40-year-old woman from Morphett Vale was issued a drug diversion.
