Police will continue to target drivers in school zones to protect venerable road users.

Police will continue to target drivers in school zones to protect venerable road users.

On Friday 11 September, Southern District police attended Mclaren Vale to proactively police school zones.

In less than one-hour police detected eleven motorists exceeding the speed limit and issued eleven expiation notices.

Children can be unpredictable near roads, and younger children have limited awareness, making them more vulnerable.

Drivers should be observant, reduce speed and expect more pedestrians around schools. A moment of inattention can have serious consequences.

Parents are encouraged to discuss road safety with children and allow extra time for school drop off and pick up.
