02 Jun 2026 8:18am

A man has been arrested following an investigation into traffic offences over the last month.

Just after 12.30am on 23 May, a traffic patrol spotted a motorcycle performing a 'wheelie' by lifting the front wheel as it was moving, on the Port River Expressway, Wingfield. The rider, a 21-year-old man from Flinders Park was intercepted a short time later on the expressway.

Police obtained footage from a helmet mounted camera which allegedly showed the rider travelling at excessive speeds, including up to 210 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on the North-South Motorway, and riding at more than 180 km/h while performing wheelies.

After further investigations, the rider was arrested on the evening of 1 June and charged with a total of 22 traffic offences and issued seven traffic infringement notices.

The rider was also issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and the motorcycle has been impounded for 28 days. Police will seek forfeiture of the vehicle.

The rider was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
