26 May 2026 10:43am

A man has been arrested after refusing to comply with a breath test last night.

About 6.30pm on Monday 25 May, a motorcycle police officer attempted to stop a Holden sedan on Sturt Street, Glenelg North, however, the driver reversed into a nearby hotel car park to avoid being intercepted.

The officer approached the vehicle after it became blocked in by a kerb and spoke with the driver, who allegedly refused to comply with directions to submit to a breath test.

A 62-year-old man from Norwood was arrested and charged with failing to obey a direction of a police officer, failing to comply with a direction to submit to analysis, and failing to answer questions relating to the identity of a driver.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 10 July.
