Driver detected speeding at site of fatal crash

A driver has had his car impounded after being caught 59km/h over the speed limit at Penfield Gardens this week.

Just after 3pm on Wednesday 20 May ,State Traffic Enforcement Unit were conducting speed detection duties on Curtis Road when a BYD Station Wagon was spotted overtaking another vehicle and travelling at 119km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver a 28-year-old man from Two Wells was reported for excess speed, extreme speed and speed manner dangerous.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded.

He will be summoned to attend court at a later date.

Police are disappointed that warnings regarding speeding are not being adhered to.

Speeding and dangerous road users put everyone at risk and can result in a serious crash or a life lost on our roads.
