Police have arrested a man following a dangerous driving incident in the northern suburbs last night.
About 9pm on Thursday 28 May, police observed a Ford ute travelling on Curtis Road towing a trailer. Checks revealed both the vehicle and trailer were displaying unassigned number plates.
The driver accelerated away at speed and PolAIR monitored the car as it drove erratically, crashing into a parked car but continuing to drive despite the damage.
The car and trailer eventually jack‑knifed at the intersection of Curtis Road and Heaslip Road, Penfield Gardens and the driver, a 41‑year‑old man of no fixed address, was arrested.
Checks revealed the man was subject to multiple court-imposed driving disqualifications.
The man was charged with numerous offences including driving disqualified, driving in a manner dangerous, and aggravated driving without due care. Police will also allege he is a suspect for at least 70 fuel thefts over the last nine months.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
