Car down embankment at Cleland

21 Apr 2026 7:10am

A driver and his passenger were lucky to escape injury after their car went down an embankment at Cleland last night.

About 7.20pm on Monday 20 April, emergency services were called to Mount Lofty Summit Road after reports a car had left the road, gone down a steep embankment and hit a tree.

Luckily the driver, a 17-year-old man, and his 17-year-old passenger were not injured in the crash.

SES crews attended to remove a tree that had fallen onto the car.  The Subaru had to be winched up the side of the hill and towed from the scene.

The driver was issued an expiation notice for failing to maintain effective control of the vehicle and failing to keep left for $746.
