Man arrested for supplying liquor

A man was arrested after he was allegedly found with alcohol at Ceduna this evening.

Ceduna Police received information about alcohol being brought into the local community.

Police stopped a man who had just disembarked a bus at McKenzie Street, Ceduna and searched his luggage.  It will be alleged police found five one-litre bottles of alcohol suspected to be supplied to people within the prescribed area of Ceduna.

The 53-year-old Yalata man was reported for supplying liquor in a prescribed area and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The alcohol was seized and destroyed.

Ceduna is a prescribed area under the Liquor Licencing Act with strict alcohol sale conditions to prevent alcohol harm to vulnerable groups in the area.

Ceduna Police enforce the dry zone conditions as well as taking action against anyone trafficking alcohol into the community and selling it at higher prices to take advantage of vulnerable groups.
