Copper thief arrested in CBD

A man has been arrested after attempting to steal copper from a church in Adelaide this morning.

Just after 6.30am on Friday 29 May, police were called to a church on North Terrace after reports a man was ripping piping off of the building.

Police attended immediately and began searching the area, locating the suspect in a nearby toilet.

A 50-year-old man from Blair Athol was arrested and charged with trespassing, possess an article to commit an offence, theft, possess a controlled drug and breaching his bail.

He was bailed to attend the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
