If it's flooded, forget it - trio rescued at Hillier

About 4.50am today (Monday 10 August), police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Wingate and Winzor Roads after reports that a Nissan station wagon had driven into the flooded area due to heavy rainfall.

The two occupants of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman who was the driver and a 19-year-old man, both of Whyalla managed to get themselves out through the windows and to the safety of the side of the road, north of the intersection near the Gawler River

While police were assisting the two people, another car drove into the water and became stuck.

Fortunately the driver, a 40-year-old Elizabeth Downs man was able to exit the vehicle and was also helped by police to safety.

Both of the vehicles had been washed away by the floodwaters.

There were no reports of any injuries from any of the people involved.

Police remind the public that if a road is flooded, do not drive through the water as you do not know how deep it could be.
