Man arrested for crime spree

A man has been arrested for multiple offences committed across southern and western suburbs and the Yorke Mid North Local Service Area.

On Monday 7 December a house was broken into in Noarlunga South. The occupant was assaulted with a baseball bat and property was stolen from the address.  The offender was known to the victim.

On Friday 11 December a house was broken into in Birkenhead.  The occupant was confronted and property was stolen from the address.  The offender was known to the victim.

That same evening the town hall in Tarlee was broken into and extensive damage was caused to the town’s post office and letters from post boxes were stolen.

On Saturday 12 December the Auburn Bowling Club was broken into and beer and spirits were stolen from the bar area.

This morning, 15 December 2020, Northern District Detectives and patrol members attended a Burton address and recovered property from the break in at Noarlunga South together with postal items from the Tarlee community and alcohol believed to have been stolen from the Auburn Bowling Club. Police also recovered a firearm and a small quantity drugs believed to be fantasy.

A 30-year-old Lonsdale man was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, four counts of theft, property damage, breach of bail and firearms offences. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow (16 December).

A 50-year-old man from Burton who resides at the address was also arrested by detectives from Crime Gangs Taskforce and charged with breaching a firearms prohibition order and firearms offences.  He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.
