New road safety resources for children

In collaboration with the Department for Education’s Literacy Guarantee Unit, SAPOL’s Road Safety Centre have produced decodable readers featuring Jeff the Road Safety Dog.

These readers are aligned to the Department for Education R-2 phonics and spelling scope and sequence with a few additional words required for instruction to support the road safety messaging.

The first two decodable readers of this series are now available in both Reception and Year 1 units.

“Is it safe to play?” and “Jeff can help” can be downloaded for FREE from SAPOL’s website.

They can be located under ‘For students’ on the ‘Resources and online activities’ page.

The readers are designed to be a colouring-in booklet for students to complete.
