LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officer Network

South Australia Police (SAPOL) is committed to providing a visible, inclusive, and respectful service for all South Australians.

To strengthen our connection with the LGBTIQA+ community, SAPOL has a network of LGBTIQA+ Liaison Officers (LLOs). These officers are approachable and committed to fostering trust, promoting inclusion, and ensuring equitable access to policing services for all South Australians.

An LLO is a police officer or government employee who has volunteered for this role and received specific training to provide additional support to members of the LGBTIQA+ community.

The LLO network aims to:

  • Act as a contact point for LGBTIQA+ people in the community.
  • Promote SAPOL’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring respectful and equitable policing for all.
  • Build networks and strengthen relationships between SAPOL and the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Enhance community safety through partnership and engagement with the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Foster mutual trust, respect, and open communication between police and the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Support inclusive practices that acknowledge and respond to the diverse and intersecting identities within the LGBTIQA+ community.

You can connect with an LLO by emailing SAPOLLLONetwork@police.sa.gov.au with your name, contact details, and suburb or postcode. Alternatively, you can make contact through your local police station. Find your local police station
