Streets ahead of the rest

We are proud to announce that our Road Safety Centre team are coming home with two national awards after attending the Australian Road Safety Awards hosted by the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) in Canberra on Wednesday.

The first was the Recognition Award, relating to the ‘Reckless to Responsible – Shifting Gears’ road safety session. The session is delivered by a SAPOL road safety educator, one-on-one with the young offender. The session includes information on graduated licensing, the Fatal Five, choices, risks and consequences and passenger responsibilities. Since its inception the program has been delivered to more than 300 young people.

The second was the State Government Award, for the Road Safety Centre's commitment to delivering road safety education. After opening the new Road Safety Centre last year, it continues to deliver a range of free road safety sessions for people of all ages and skills in a safe and fun environment.

Superintendent Shane Johnson and Senior Sergeant Susan O’Connor attended the award ceremony at Parliament House in Canberra and were honoured to accept the awards on behalf of the Road Safety Centre.

You can find out more about the Road Safety Centre and its range of programs on the SAPOL website.
