Attemped aggravated robbery at Mawson Lakes

A man has been arrested following an attempted aggravated robbery at Mawson Lakes last night.

About 7.15pm last night (Tuesday 7 September) a car approached three students who were walking on University Boulevard at Mawson Lakes.  One of the two occupants of the car asked the students for directions, and when they approached the car the suspect produced a handgun and demanded cash.

The students stated that they didn’t have any cash and the suspects then drove off, heading south on University Boulevard.

The students contacted police and were able to provide a description of the car and part of the registration.

A vehicle matching the description was identified as having been involved in a fuel drive off at 3.15pm in Para Hills.

Following investigations the vehicle was located at an Elizabeth South address.

With the assistance of STAR operations and Police dogs Havoc and Arnie, police arrested the suspects, a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, both from Elizabeth South.  They were charged with attempted aggravated assault and were refused police bail.  They will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates court today.

Investigations are continuing into this incident.
