Firearms licence renewals and updates

Maintaining an active and accurate firearms licence is essential for lawful firearm ownership in South Australia. The South Australia Police Firearms Branch provides services for renewing your licence and updating personal or licence-related details.

How to renew your licence

To renew your licence at a photo point location, please bring:

  • You data card
  • Your current firearm licence
  • Valid identification
  • Payment for the renewal fee

Once payment is made, and your granted a renewal licence you’ll receive an interim licence valid for up to 90 days, or until your photographic licence is issued. Or you can access your firearm licence digitally via your mySAGOV account.

Access your digital licence

Once your renewal payment is processed, you can access your firearm licence digitally via your mySAGOV account within 48 hours.

The benefits of a digital licence are:

  • No need to wait for a physical card
  • Secure and convenient access on your smartphone
  • Accepted as proof of firearm licence

How to access your digital licence:

Step 1 - Create or log in to your mySAGOV account

  • Visit mySAGOV
  • Use your email address and password to log in
  • If you don’t have an account, follow the prompts to create an account.

Step 2 - Link your firearm licence

  • Navigate to Licences and Permits
  • Select “Add a Licence”
  • Enter your firearm licence number and personal details
  • Your digital licence will appear once verified

Step 3 - Download the mySAGOV App

  • Available on iOS and Android
  • Log in using your mySAGOV credentials
  • Your digital firearm licence will be accessible under “My Licences” within 48 hours of payment.

Updating licence details

You are legally required to notify the Registrar within 14 days of any changes to your:

  • Name
  • Residential or postal address
  • Firearm storage address
  • Other licence details
  • How to Update Your Details

Complete and submit the PD310 – Notification of Change form. Refer to change of address, name and storage address for more information.
