Description | The South Australian Police Historical Society is holding Open Days from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm on Sunday, 26 February; Sunday, 19 March; and Sunday, 28 May. This is your last chance to tour the Historical Society's police museum at Thebarton Barracks and learn about SAPOL's rich history. The museum will relocate at some stage this year due to the impending re-development of the Thebarton Barracks precinct. The museum has been a popular attraction at Thebarton Barracks since it was opened in 1995. Over the years the museum galleries have been extended to include all aspects of South Australia Police history as well as a gallery containing what is believed to be one of the rarest, most extensive and finest displays of Australasian and international police badges, headwear and memorabilia in the world. Entry fee for each Open Day is $10 per person (over 12 years), payable before entry. No bookings required. Tour guides will be on hand throughout the event. Make sure you take this wonderful opportunity to explore Australia's largest and most comprehensive police museum and have a final look at Thebarton Barracks which has played a significant role in SAPOL's strong and vibrant heritage since opening in 1917.
