Head to Thebarton Barracks on Sunday, 5 May from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm for the South Australian Police Historical Society's annual Open Day.
Feel the nostalgia as you re-live South Australian police history amongst heritage listed buildings at Thebarton Barracks which have been home to a range of SAPOL areas since 1917.
A collection of historic police vehicles will be on display along with several privately owned ex-police vehicles.
Mounted Operations Unit will provide horsepower of a different kind with police horses gracing the Parade Ground. Dog Operations Unit will highlight their fine pedigree with a show at 1.00 pm.
History buffs can take a step back in time with a tour through the South Australia Police Museum which showcases police memorabilia including the world class John White collection of police badges and uniforms.
The Band of the South Australia Police will also be in attendance, performing at regular intervals throughout the event.
A BBQ and refreshments will be available throughout the Open Day.
At just $5 for adults and free entry for children, it is an event not to be missed.
Those attending the Open Day are advised to park on Port Road, opposite Coca Cola, and then walk through the park to Thebarton Barracks (via the Road Safety Centre). No parking will be available on the grounds at Thebarton Barracks.
