Enjoy a hands-on lesson in road safety this school holidays!

SAPOL is once again offering a free road safety program for primary school aged children during the July school holidays.

The school holiday program was held for the first time earlier this year at the Road Safety Centre and proved very popular with more than 90 spots filling quickly.

While South Australian children have the opportunity to visit the centre as part of a school excursion, not all schools participate in this program. The free holiday program provides an additional opportunity for children to gain vital road safety education.

Participants in the two-hour program will have a classroom session, followed by a practical session of bicycle riding on the mock roadway to put into practice their new knowledge.

All equipment is supplied and the Road Safety Centre has a range of bicycles to cater for all riders.

Four sessions, covering two age groups, are being offered at Thebarton Police Barracks, Port Road, Thebarton from 10 am to midday:

  • Tuesday 9 July for children 5 to 8 years - Full
  • Thursday 11 July for children 5 to 8 years - Full
  • Tuesday 16 July for children 9 to 12 years - Full
  • Thursday 18 July for children 5 to 8 years - Full

Spaces are limited, so to make a booking please contact the Road Safety Section via email at from 9am on Tuesday 25 June.

Please include following details in the email:

  • preferred date
  • name of participant
  • age of participant
  • parent/Guardian name / phone number/ postal address / email
