Since 2007 the Band of the South Australian Police has been hosting music students in years 10-12 from around the state who participate in a week-long work experience program.
During their five days on site with the Band, students enjoy a dynamic week which includes observing SAPOL’s Band ensembles, rehearsing with the Concert Band and participating in sectionals with mentorship by Band members on their chosen instrument.
Students also receive Information sessions on education paths and general policing careers as well as participating in workshops run by the Band management team and members on many aspects of Band operations and specialist areas.
All of this is designed to give students an idea of what the standards are to be a professional musician and work in a full time ensemble such as the Police Band.
The Band’s work experience program is a unique program allowing police to engage with youth through the arts.
The program culminates with a free concert. This concert is primarily performed for family, friends, classroom and instrumental teachers, but is also open to the public.
FREE tickets are available at try booking but numbers are limited.
