Speeding motorcyclist caught on Southern Expressway

An alleged speeding motorcyclist was arrested after being spotted by PolAir travelling at extreme speeds in the southern suburbs this afternoon.

About 3.30pm on Saturday 15 January, police received reports of a speeding motorcyclist heading south through the northern suburbs.

Just before 4pm, PolAir spotted the motorcycle travelling at 143 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Marion Road, Bedford Park before it got onto the Southern Expressway, where it was caught doing 204 km/h in a 100 km/h zone at Old Reynella.

The rider, who was unaware his movements were being tracked by PolAir, was followed to a Morphett Vale address and arrested.

The 25-year-old Evanston man, who holds a provisional licence, was charged with aggravated extreme speed and speed and manner dangerous to the public.  He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 17 February.

His Kawasaki motorcycle was impounded for 28 days.
