Update - Alleged hit-run driver arrested

A woman has been charged following a fatal hit-run crash at Elizabeth East.

About 4.40am on Tuesday 14 January, police were called to Kinkaid Road after reports a woman had been struck by a car and the driver allegedly failed to stop at the scene.

A 40-year-old woman from the far north sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene. Major Crash officers attended and examined the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 8.30pm last night (Wednesday 15 January) following an investigation, officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section attended a Hillbank address and arrested a 55-year-old woman.

She has been charged with cause death by dangerous driving, cause harm by careless driving and failing to stop. She was refused bail and lost her licence on the spot. She will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today (Thursday).

The Toyota Prado allegedly involved in the crash was located at a Paralowie address and has been seized for forensic testing.

The woman’s death was the 3rd life lost on SA roads this year.
