'P' plater caught drink and drug driving at Mile End

21 Sep 2019 6:49am

A probationary driver has been reported for drink driving after he was spotted driving with two flat tyres at Mile End overnight.

Just before 1.30am on Saturday 21 September, patrols were sent to South Road after a member of the public witnessed a red Hyundai sedan driving erratically along South Road with two flat tyres.

The caller followed the Hyundai as it crossed over Richmond Road where patrols arrived and pulled the driver over.

He was breath tested and returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.201. He was also drug tested and returned an alleged positive result to methamphetamine.

The 21-year-old from Mitchell Park was reported for drink driving and may face drug driving charges pending forensic analysis of the drug sample. He was also issued with an immediate 12 month loss of licence and his car was impounded for 28 days.
