Man arrested over hit run crash at Unley

24 May 2019 8:25am

Police have arrested a man following a hit run crash at Unley last night.

About 5.15pm on Thursday 24 May, a cyclist was riding along King William Street when the driver of a parked car opened his door in front of the rider, causing him to crash.

The driver of the silver Mitsubishi sedan then drove off and failed to render assistance or exchange details with the rider.

The cyclist sustained a broken hand and lacerations to his leg, and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

As a result of investigations, police attended at a Mile End home to make enquiries with the registered owner and located the offending vehicle.

A 25-year-old man from the home was arrested and charged with failing to render assistance at the scene of an accident, failing to exchange particulars at a crash, driving unlicenced and breach of bail. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
